Stephanie Hurst

Corporate Tax Director

Steph began her career in tax as a trainee at RSM before moving to a smaller local practice, where she qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) in 2013. She initially specialised in personal tax but developed a strong interest in owner-managed businesses. Since joining Monahans in 2014, she has focused exclusively on corporate tax.

Steph has particular expertise in advising owner-managed businesses and enjoys the variety of opportunities and challenges they bring. Her background in personal tax gives her a broader perspective when advising business owners, as many planning opportunities span both corporate and personal taxation.

Her specialist areas include capital allowances, business restructures, company share purchases and helping businesses manage tax risk while planning for growth.

Clients value Steph’s ability to explain complex tax legislation in a straightforward way. Tax rules can often feel overwhelming and sometimes unnecessarily complicated so she focuses on giving practical, clear advice that helps clients make informed decisions with confidence.

One of the things Steph enjoys most about corporate tax is that no two days are ever the same. Every client brings different challenges, making the work varied, engaging and continually interesting.

Outside work, Steph is a keen traveller and has visited more than 40 countries, including some of the world’s more remote destinations. She also enjoys weight training and anything creative, from painting and drawing to photography and jewellery making. In another life, she’d probably have worked in the arts.
